The blogs posted here are proof that opening a blog leaves it open to the moderator to spread whatever belief or propaganda to anybody. Accordingly, this should be taken with a grain of salt when someone tries to start some kind of political debate over something someone posted on a blog. As far as teenagers being involved in politics, I'm all for it. Yes, when we're adolescents we are not at are best as far as making rational decisions, and this probably was a big factor in why this girl went as far as to make death threats to the president. Do I think the SS should've taken something posted on a 14 y.o.'s blog seriously? No, but in times like these I gues they could be seen as being premptive. God help us if the next fanatical terrorist is a 15 and posts on MySpace. Maybe teenagers do not have the life experience necessary to form solid political beliefs, but it is still necessary to educate them regarding current affairs in order to raise awareness and combat the general political apathy that pervades among todays youth. I don't believe minors should be treated like adults, even if they do misbehave like adults. In the case of this particular girl, regardless of how educated and aware she is, she is still a minor and the fact that she felt that making a death threat was the best way to draw attention to her politics, shows her general immaturity. Should she have said it? No, it probably wasn't the best choice but she should still be punished primarily by her parents rather than taking this case to court. As far as I'm concerned, if this girl is a US citizen, she should be afforded all the rights as warranted by the Constitution. . .
